About Us

"Be the Beard" was founded in October 2006 by a group of twenty-somethings on a
road trip in California. In protest of their corporate jobs, which they hated, the group
grew "freedom beards". These beards symbolized a personal revolution against cubes,
bosses, procedures, and any number of work place annoyances people face everyday.

Unfortunately, they all had to go back to work, but the spirit of the freedom beard lives
on. It's a silent protest against workplace tyranny.

At "Be The Beard" we know work has to get done, but that doesn't mean you have to
like it. If you share the profound disdain for your job like we do, we invite you to join our
grassroots program to subtly snub our collective noses at words like audits, corporate
